Holden was very smart both on and off the court. Holden's first big game was against Wake at home as a freshman when he came off the bench to get 17 points in 18 minutes and followed that up with 12 points and 10 rebounds while filling in for an injured Terence Morris in a victory against Clemson. Early in Tahj's sophmore year he broke his foot and missed more than a month. Some feel he never moved as well after the injury. Tahj did come back from the injury sooner than expected and inspired the squad to a big victory against Wake Forest in his return. Tahj hit 3 three pointers and finished with 14 points in the victory in the western regional finals against the one seeded Stanford Cardinal.
Holden started at power forward at the beginning of his junior season, but lost the starting role to the emerging Chris Wilcox early in the season. Scored in double figures in three consecutive games in December including 15 against UCONN in the finals of the BB&T. Tahj hit a big three pointer at the halftime buzzer against UCONN in the eastern regional finals to help the Terps reach their second consecutive final four. In the national semi finals against Kansas with Lonny Baxter in foul trouble, Tahj had his finest hour with 13 points in 24 big minutes. In the finals against Indiana, Tahj contributed four big assists in the Terps victory.
As a senior, Tahj started 24 of 30 games and averaged over 10 points a game in ACC play including a career high 20 points along with 9 boards in a victory at NC State and 18 points in a loss at Duke. He was also considered to be a 'coach' on the court.
Tahj was a Terp during the most successful era in Terp history and was a classy and clutch player who is sure to be successful in life.
